Prairie Life Sampler

Hello!

This beautiful sampler is a market Nashville 2018 release, since I saw it I decided that I needed to stitch it as soon as possible.

I finish this sampler a few days ago and I made some changes to the design, I leave out some elements from the original design (the names of the horses, the name of the dog and the gun); I also translated the quote by Laura Ingalls Wilder to my own language. The first part of the quote is not translated ("The real things haven't changed.") I did not have room for everything, but the rest of the quote ("Is still best to be honest & truthful to be happy with simple pleasures & have courage when thinghs go wrong.") is on the sampler.

Design by Heartstring Samplery - Prairie Life Sampler.
Stitched on 40 count Newcastle Morel linen by Sparklies with the recommended Weeks Dye Works threads.

The faces are stitched one thread over one, not very easy on 40 count, but I did it, and gives a nice effect! There are other stitching one thread over one -  the bear's head; inside the hoop, the letter L and the little heart and part of the fiddle.

I really love the border! Quite tedious sometimes, I manage this, stitching two rose flowers and some leaves and then stitching on the other motifs of the sampler.

What do you think? Do you think it's a nice tribute to Little House on the Prairie? I think so! I really enjoy stitching it! Now I need to find a perfect frame for this sampler!

Thank you so much for visiting! Have a lovely day and happy stitching!
Lili

Forget Me Not

Hello everyone!
I have been stitching large projects, but I took a break to pick up a small project.

Design by Heartstring Samplery - Forget Me Not.
From The Gift of Stitching Magazine, Issue 71 March/April 2012.

Stitched on 40 count Newcastle Pearl Grey linen with Weeks Dye Works and DMC floss. The lace is hand dyed by me, is more like a dusty rose colour.

I really love the flowers!

Please note: if you don't have the digital magazine, you can find the design in your local or online needlework shop.

Thanks for visiting!
Happy stitching,
Lili

Housework Is For The Birds

Hello everyone!
I did not expect to take so long to update the blog…

Since my last post I picked a design by Heartstring Samplery.
Did not take too long to stitch it, but later I was lazy in the bird appliqué.
I also decided to back to an old work in progress that I’m almost to a finish!
I’ve been ill too and for last I stitched the new design called “Easter Hen” by Teresa of Primitive Acorns.

Here is my start on “Housework Is For The Birds”:

The piece without the appliqué:

I decided to use wool for the bird, the pattern called for a piece of cotton fabric for the bird body and a piece of felted wool for the bird wing. Now I just need to sew the wool and get this piece framed.

Design by Heartstring Samplery – Housework Is For The Birds.
Stitched on 40 count Oatmeal Newcastle Linen by Sparklies using threads from The Gentle Art and felted wool from Weeks Dye Works.

Thanks for visiting!
Happy stitching,

Lili
